Served at the 2014 Holiday Fare Wine Trail

1  cup butter softened  

2 cups sugar

4  eggs

2 cups  flour

2 teaspoons baking soda

2  teaspoons cinnamon

2   teaspoons baking powder

6 cups coarsely chopped, apples


Preheat oven to 350

Butter a 9X13 baking pan.  Combine butter and sugar in bowl and beat on low speed until creamy.  Add eggs one at a time and continue to blend.  Slowly add flour, baking powder, baking soda and cinnamon; mix well.

Add apples and mix with a spoon.  Pour into prepared pan.

Bake about 30 minutes or until knife inserted in the center comes out clean.  Cool.  Cut into squares or in half to form 2 layers for apple cake.

Garnish with whipped cream and a splash of  rum.  Serve with OakGlenn Trolley Red.
