Served at the 2023 Berries & BarBQ Wine Trail, G. Husmann Wine Company

Ingredients:

5 links Smoked Sausage cut into thirds
3 cups fresh pineapple chunks

Blueberry Jalapeno BBQ Sauce:

2 1/2 cups fresh blueberries
1/2 cup white balsamic vinegar
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1 small jalapeno seeds and ribs removed if desired
2 tablespoons red onion roughly chopped
3 tablespoons honey
3 tablespoons ketchup
2 cloves garlic roughly chopped
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions:

For sauce:

Combine all of the ingredients in a medium-sized saucepan over medium-high heat.
Bring to a boil, then immediately turn the heat down to a simmer. Cook for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, as the berries start to break down.
Remove the pan from the heat and cool slightly before blending until smooth.
Store in a tightly sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.

Preheat grill to medium high.
If using wooden skewers soak in water for an hour.
Thread sausage and pineapple on skewers alternating.
Place skewers on grill and cook for 3-4 minutes. Turning skewers to cook the other side. Brush blueberry sauce on at the end of grilling or after removing from the grill to prevent burning.
Serves 8
