Served at the 2024 Holiday Fare Wine Trail, G. Husmann Wine Company
Ingredients:
1 ½ cups sugar
3 tbsp butter at room temperature
3 cups flour
4 ½ tsp baking powder
Dash salt
1 ½ cups milk at room temperature
1 ½ tsp vanilla
3 cups whole fresh cranberries
Butter Sauce
½ cup unsalted butter
1 cup sugar
¾ cup whipping cream
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Grease and lightly flour 9-10 inch spring form pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar.
- Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Combine milk and vanilla. Add dry ingredients, milk, and cranberries, alternately folding over using a spatula. Do not over-mix (lumpy batter is okay).
- Bake 50 to 60 minutes until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar.
Butter Sauce
- In a small saucepan, brown butter slightly. Remove just before it turns golden brown.
- Add sugar and cream. Bring to a boil and remove from heat.
- Cool to room temperature. To serve, warm sauce and serve over kuchen.
