Hermann Oktoberfest

Do you know the origins of Oktoberfest? After the marriage ceremony between Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese on October 12, 1810, in Munich, Germany, they invited all of the townsfolk to attend the festival in their honor, which took place outside the city gates in the fields. Following the wedding ceremony, the fields were named Theresienwiese after the Princess, and the festival was such a success that the townsfolk asked King Ludwig to continue the celebration the following year. Hence, Oktoberfest was born!

In honor of our German heritage, Oktoberfest is in full swing on the Hermann Wine Trail! Wineries are celebrating with live music, events, great foods, and award-winning wines!
