When the temperature drops and the holiday season approaches, mulled wine seems to be the beverage that comes to mind. You can enjoy a warm mug sitting by the fireplace or serve at your holiday parties for a festive cheer.

We have served mulled wine at many of our wine trail events over the years and have several classic recipes to share for this popular drink.

Mulled Wine (with a twist) from OakGlenn Winery

Served at the 2016 Holiday Fare and Say Cheese Wine Trail Mulled Wine

  • 1 bottle OakGlenn River View Wine
  • 1 bottle OakGlenn Naughti Wine
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup Kahlua Mocha Liquor

    Combine in a crockpotHeat and serve in mugs. Serves 8


Spiced Holiday Wine from Bias Winery

Served at the 2016 Holiday Fare Wine Trail

  •  1 bottle Bias Chardonel
  • 1 cup apple juice
  • 1/3 cup white sugar
  • 1 green apple, sliced
  • 3 sticks cinnamon
  • Sprinkle of ground cloves and allspice to taste

Pour all ingredients in a crockpot and heat on high for 30 minutes, then low for 2-3 more hours. Stir occasionally to dissolve sugar.

 
Spiced Apple Wine from Bias Winery

Served at the 2013 Holiday Fare Wine Trail 

  • 1 bottle of Bias Apple Weisser Flieder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon or 2 cinnamon sticks
  • ¼  teaspoon ground allspice
  • ¼  teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 cup sugar (sweeten to taste)

Put all ingredients in crock-pot, cover and set on low 2-8 hours.
