Hermann wineries are just now starting to harvest Norton, well what the critters left us anyway. For some reason the birds and furry folks know what the most valuable grapes are. Norton is our state’s official grape and it has long been the prize of Missouri wine country, producing red wines with structure and complexity. The Hermann wine region is one of the most successful areas to produce memorable Norton wines, garnering prestigious awards every year.
The consensus in the Hermann area is that the 2011 harvest will be one of great quality. We thank the good lord for blessing us with a good growing season once again.
The wineries are celebrating the end of harvest and getting ready for October in Hermann wine country this weekend! The weather will be beautiful and the wine will be chilled. Many wineries serve traditional German specialties to honor our Hermann forefathers and some will be serving other tasty fare. Each winery has their own activities so check out their websites for the schedule of events and guidelines for the month of October.
